HC Deb 17 March 1896 vol 38 cc1159-60
MR. D. MACALEESE (Monaghan, N.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, whether, having regard to the importance of industrial instruction, and the pressure of increased duties under the alternative scheme now in operation in most of the Irish National Schools, he is prepared to ask the Commissioners of National Education to recommend a suitable augmentation of salary and of result fees to work mistresses employed in the said schools?

MR. GERALD BALFOUR

This matter is the subject of correspondence between the Irish Government and the Commissioners of National Education, and I am not able at present to give any more definite reply to the hon. Member's Question.
