DILLON (Mayo, E.)On behalf of Mr. McCARTAN, I beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade, with reference to the Petitions presented by the Irish, English, and Scotch light-keepers, whether he can state about what time he expects action will be taken in the matter; whether he can say when the Departmental Committee will be in a position to present its Report; and, if the Report will be circulated?
§ MR. RITCHIEAs a matter referred to in the question is one which has to be dealt with in the first instance by the different lighthouse authorities and not by the Board of Trade, I am not able to say when action is likely to be taken. I understand that the Committee will be in a position to make its report at an early date, but until that report is received I am not able to make any definite statement as to its circulation.
