PERCY THORNTON (Clapham)I beg to ask the First Lord of the Admiralty whether any officers of the Royal Indian Marine were offered Commissions as supernumerary lieutenants in the British Navy, when 100 candidates were recently selected for these posts from the Royal Naval Reserve and other sources?
§ THE FIRST LORD OF THE ADMIRALTYOne officer of the Royal Indian Marine has been offered a Commissian on the Supplementary List of the Royal Navy, provided that he passes the required Board of Trade examination. I do not know that any other application has been received.
