COCHRANE (Ayrshire, N.)I beg to ask the Lord Advocate, (1) whether he, is aware that the Local Government Board for Scotland refused the application of the Parish Council of West Kilbride for an alteration in the classification of rates; and, (2) whether the Government have any intention of endeavouring to institute throughout Scotland a more uniform system of classification?
§ THE LORD ADVOCATEThe statement in the first paragraph of the hon. Member's question is correct; as regards the latter part, the Government cannot undertake to propose legislation at present on the subject of the classification of parochial rates.
