HC Deb 03 March 1896 vol 38 c29
MR. W. T. HOWELL (Denbigh Boroughs)

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether a case has been laid before the Law Officers of the Crown relating to the occupation of Trinidad by Her Majesty's Government, and what was their opinion thereon; and whether he will place upon the Table Papers relating to the questions arising out of such occupation?

MR. CURZON

The Law Officers of the Crown were consulted; but it would be contrary to practice to communicate their opinions to Parliament. It is not proposed at present to lay Papers on the Table.
