WOOTTON ISAACSONI beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury whether, in view of the recent increase in the London School Board Rate, which burden presses so heavily on the small householders of the East End of London, the Government intend to introduce next Session any Measure for the reduction or limitation of the expenses of the London School Board?
§ THE FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURYAs my hon. Friend is aware, there was a provision in the Education Bill which, under certain circumstances, would have given control over the expenditure of the School Board to the London County Council, but I do not know that that particular provision was received with great favour by hon. Gentlemen representing London on this side of the House. [Opposition cheers.]
