JAMES O'CONNOR (Wicklow, W.)I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, whether the Guardians of the Rathdown Union have commenced to build the labourers' cottages which they have long since been urged to build by the Local Government Board; and, if so, how soon will they be completed?
§ *MR. GERALD BALFOURThe Provisional Order of the Local Government Board authorising the erection of three cottages in this Union was published on Saturday. Should an appeal be lodged against the Order within a month from the date of publication the case would then have to go before the caivy Council, but if, as seems likely, no 263 such petition be presented the guardians would, at the expiration of the month, be in a position to proceed with the erection of the cottages without further delay.
