I beg to ask the First Lord of the Admiralty, whether he has been able within the last few days to place an order for Her Majesty's Navy with the Thames Iron Works and Shipbuilding Company; and, if so, can he state the character of the contract?

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Admiralty, whether a shipbuilding order has been recently placed by Her Majesty's Government with the Thames Iron Works and Shipbuilding Company; and, whether he can state the nature and amount of the order?

THE FIRST LORD OF THE ADMIRALTY

On June 19 orders were placed with the Thames Iron Works Company for 23 steam pinnaces and cutters for ships, theirs being the lowest tender. The contracts are of the usual character.
