HC Deb 26 June 1896 vol 42 c150
MR. L. P. HAYDEN (Roscommon, S.)

, I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for War, whether he has received a copy of a Resolution passed by the Roscommon and many other Boards of Guardians in Ireland, drawing attention to the fact that the meat supplied to the Military and the ships in the Cork district is of Foreign origin, to the detriment of Home producers, and asking that the Government shall insert such clauses in all future contracts as will prevent this injustice to the farming community; and whether he will take any steps to remedy the grievance complained of?

MR. POWELL-WILLIAMS

Resolutions to the effect stated have been received from two Boards of Guardians in the Cork district. The rules which apply in that district are the same as those which govern the supply of native and foreign meat throughout the kingdom; and, as has been repeatedly stated in this House, the whole subject is under consideration.
