HC Deb 18 June 1896 vol 41 c1338
MR. SAMUEL SMITH (Flintshire)

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether, in view of the extreme importance of reaching some basis of settlement for the Venezuelan Question before the Presidential Election in the United States, the Government will take steps to expedite the settlement by adopting some form of arbitration?

MR. CURZON

Her Majesty's Government have been and are still taking steps to expedite the settlement of the Venezuelan Boundary Question in the manner indicated in the Question; and I hope before long to be able to lay Papers on the Table from which the nature of these steps will be seen.
