HC Deb 18 June 1896 vol 41 cc1336-7
MR. HERBERT ROBERTS (Denbighshire, W.)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Colonies, whether he can state when the Report of the Matabeleland Commission and Correspondence relating to the subject will be presented to the House; whether he will include in that Report all information at present available with reference to the location of natives in the proposed reserves, and with respect to the seizure of part of their cattle; and, whether, in view of the probable delay in the publication of the full Report upon the administration of the British South Africa Company's cattle regulations, which Sir Richard Martin has been instructed to furnish when peace has been restored, he will call upon that officer for immediate information as to the alleged taking by the Company, near the end of last year, of about half the native cattle?

MR. J. CHAMBERLAIN

I hope that the Papers will be ready in a week or ten days from now. I have no official information as to the location of natives or the disposal of their cattle subsequent to the date of the Report of the Commission. I will ask at once as to the truth of the report mentioned by the hon. Member.
