HC Deb 18 June 1896 vol 41 c1328
SIR ALBERT ROLLIT (Islington, S.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, whether the Returns made through the Clerks of the Peace to the Privy Council Office, Dublin, under the provisions of the Acts of the Irish Parliament, 2 Anne, c. 2, and 8 Anne, c. 3 (for registering certain Clergy) are still in existence; and, if so, whether they can be transferred to the Irish Public Record Office, so as to be accessible to literary workers and the general public?

MR. GERALD BALFOUR

I am informed by the Keeper of State Papers in Ireland that the returns in question are not now in existence, and that it is possible they were destroyed by the great fire of 1711, when most of the Council Records were burnt.
