GORELL BARNES (Kent, Faversham)I beg to ask the Secretary of State for India whether the Government of India has been moved to reduce the minimum service of uncovenanted officers for voluntary retirement on 1064 pension from 30 years to 25, in accordance with the evidence of the Financial Representative of the India Office before the Select Committee of the House, and in accordance with the observations of the Chairman of that Committee, then Under Secretary of State for India?

I may add that I have not been able to trace the statements to which my hon. Friend refers in support of the change which he apparently advocates.
