§ MR. J. H. C. HOZIER (Lanark, S.)I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for War, whether it is the case that private soldiers on the married list receive in London only 4d. a day lodging allowance when married quarters cannot be supplied in barracks; and, whether it is the case that, in view of the fact that temporary lodgers are generally discouraged, respectable lodgings outside within reasonable distance of barracks cannot be obtained by married soldiers under 6d. a day?
§ * MR. BRODRICKThe lodging allowance for married soldiers at all home stations is 4d. a day. This allowance, is in the Secretary of State's opinion, inadequate, and the question of increasing it is under consideration.
