HC Deb 11 June 1896 vol 41 c862
MR. J. CHAMBERLAIN

I have received a telegram this afternoon, dated 11th June, from the British Agent to the South African Republic:— Four prisoners released on payment of £25,000 each—[exclamations of surprise]—and subscribing to same undertaking as other prisoners relative to taking part in politics of the country. Otherwise, banishment for life.
