§ THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE HOME DEPARTMENT (Sir MATTHEW WHITE RIDLEY,) Lancashire, BlackpoolSpecial rules which carry out the recommendations of the Departmental Committee, so far as the law allows have been framed and issued, and have been accepted by 1,540 firms; 175 firms have raised objections, but it is hoped that their adhesion may yet be secured without it being necessary to have recourse to arbitration. When the rules are established, steps will be taken for the adequate inspection of the works with a view to their enforcement.
