STRAUSS (Cornwall, (Camborne)I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he is aware that the tin miners in the Straits Settlements are demanding a reduction of the royalty payable to the State; and whether, in view of the great depression in the Cornish mining industry, which would be increased thereby, he will consider the advisability of refusing this demand?
§ MR. J. CHAMBERLAINI have no information such as that indicated in the hon. Member's Question. If such a demand is made, the decision on it ought prima facie to be decided in accordance with the interests of the Native Protected States concerned.
