§ MR. JAMES O'CONNOR (Wicklow, W.)
I beg to ask the Chief Secretary 610 to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland will he explain why it is that the sergeants and acting sergeants of the Royal Irish Constabulary, who have discharged certain duties as ex officio inspectors under the Weights and Measures Act, have not received the remuneration to which they are entitled?
§ MR. GERALD BALFOUR
There has been no unnecessary delay in the payment of grants to the ex officio Inspectors of Weights and Measures. Proposals have been made and are now before the Treasury with a view to a moderate increase in the remuneration of these officials, and the orders for payment will be issued as soon as practicable.
