DUNCOMBE (Cumberland, Egremont)I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for War, whether it is a fact that retired Volunteers desirous of keeping up their shooting are liable to prosecution and fine if they use the range without first obtaining a gun licence; and, if so, whether he can see his way to obtaining a relaxation of the law in their favour?
§ MR. BRODRICKI fear that we could make no case for exempting from the liabilities of other civilians Volunteers who have entirely severed their connection with their corps. But, in our opinion, the case of Volunteers who have been enrolled as reserve men under Article 183 of the Volunteer Regulations is different, and the Secretary of State will communicate with the Inland Revenue authorities with regard to their liability.
