HC Deb 17 February 1896 vol 37 cc447-8
MR. J. G. WEIR

I beg to ask the Lord Advocate, whether, during the Recess, the Secretary for Scotland has considered the question of providing light railways or road trams on the western mainland of Ross-shire and Island of Lewis; and, if so, will he state whether there is any prospect of such railways or tram lines being constructed at an early date?

THE LORD ADVOCATE

No undertaking on this subject can be given in regard to any of the localities referred to, until after the general principles which have been under consideration by the Government during the Recess, have been announced.
