HC Deb 17 February 1896 vol 37 cc455-6
MR. JASPER TULLY (Leitrim, S.)

I beg to ask the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether it is intended to grant any compassionate allowance or pension to John Brennan, of Boyle, formerly a private in the 41st Regiment, who served in the Crimean war at the siege of Sebastopol, was wounded in the attack of the 18th June by the bursting of a shell, and was discharged from the Army in 1855 with a pension of 6d. a-day for nine months; and whether, as he is now totally destitute, and is in receipt of outdoor relief from the Guardians of Boyle Union, he is prepared to recommend that a grant be made to him from the fund for the relief of the destitute war veterans?

THE FINANCIAL SECRETARY TO THE WAR OFFICE (Mr. J. POWELL-WILLIAMS,) Birmingham, S.

I regret that I can add nothing to my reply to the hon. Member on the 29th August last; except to say that there is no record of John Brennan having been wounded.
