HC Deb 04 August 1896 vol 43 c1442
MR. WARNER

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for War, will he explain why all regiments are not supplied with a machine gun?

* THE UNDER SECRETARY OF STATE FOR WAR (Mr. BRODRICK,) Surrey, Guildford

As a matter of Military organisation it is held that for an army in the field it is not necessary that each battalion of infantry should have a machine gun. Each cavalry regiment will be so equipped.
