HC Deb 04 August 1896 vol 43 c1452
SIR. E. ASHMEAD-BARTLETT

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury when the Colonial Vote will be taken?

THE FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURY (Mr. A. J. BALFOUR,) Manchester, E.

As my hon. Friend is aware, there has already been a night devoted to the Colonial Vote, at least to South Africa, and other Votes certainly must come first. I am afraid I cannot promise my hon. friend a very early day for that Vote.

SIR E. ASHMEAD-BARTLETT

asked whether it was not the fact that the House had been led to expect that an opportunity would be given on this Vote of discussing affairs in the Transvaal.

THE FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURY

When the Vote is taken I presume the discussion on that subject will be in order.
