CALDWELL (Lanark, Mid)I beg to ask the, First Lord of the Treasury, whether he will postpone the Education (Scotland) Vote until the Report of the Committee of Council for the year ending 30th September last shall be in the hands of the Scotch Members, and when the Report may be expected to be in the hands of Members?
§ THE FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURYI have made inquiries, and I find that the Report referred to is not usually issued until August. This might give no opportunity to Debate the Vote. Probably the most convenient course would be to take advantage of the opportunity given to discuss the Vote in Committee to-night, and to defer the Report for the present. I will endeavour to find out whether the Education Report can be prepared at an earlier date than usual.
