HC Deb 20 April 1896 vol 39 c1257
MR. W. FIELD (Dublin, St. Patrick)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, whether his attention has been directed to the character of the text-book in agriculture prescribed by the Board of Education in Ireland for use in National Schools, a book which has received condemnation from inspectors and teachers alike; and, whether he will ask the Commissioners of National Education to consider the advisability of introducing a series of agricultural standards suited to the present requirements of Ireland?

MR. GERALD BALFOUR

A revision of the text-book in question has lately been undertaken, and the revision, I understand, is nearly complete. It is to be progressive, to suit the various standards.
