§ MR. FLYNNI beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury, as representing the Postmaster General, whether assistant clerks, posting clerks, and men of a similar grade are receiving the lowest annual increment in the Civil Service, an increment lower than that enjoyed by sorters and porters?
§ MR. HANBURYAssistant clerks in the Post Office, like clerks of a similar class in other departments, receive an annual increment of 1s. a week. This is less than the increment allowed to sorters, but not less than that for porters. The hon. Member speaks of "posting clerks," but, as there is no such class in the Post Office, the Postmaster General does not understand what officers are referred to.
