§ *THE FIRST COMMISSIONER OF WORKS (Mr. HERBERT GLADSTONE, Leeds, W.)said, he had hoped the further progress of this Bill would not be inconsistent with the proposals of the Government, but certain points of difficulty had arisen which he feared might be insuperable. He was not in a position yet to make a full statement of the proposals of the Government on the subject; and, therefore, he moved that the Debate be adjourned till next Thursday.
