HENNIKER HEATON (Canterbury)I beg to ask the Postmaster General whether he will appoint a Select Committee to inquire why there is a loss on sixpenny telegrams throughout the country, and to inquire into other matters connected with the expenditure and deficit in the telegraph department, especially with regard to press telegrams?
§ THE POSTMASTER GENERAL (Mr. ARNOLD MORLEY,) Nottingham, E.No, Sir; I cannot agree to the appointment of a Select Committee as the hon. Member suggests, except on the terms which I stated in this House on the 4th and on the 29th ultimo. I beg to refer the hon. Member to the answers I then gave. I have, so far, received no such assurance as I asked for on those occasions.
