HC Deb 16 May 1895 vol 33 cc1333-4
SIR MARK STEWART (Kirkcudbright)

I beg to ask the Secretary for Scotland where an application is granted under the Local Government (Scotland) Act for an alteration of parish boundaries would he provide by his order for the repayment of the expenses originally incurred in providing school accommodation for the parish which is diminished in area?

SIR GEORGE TREVELYAN

I am prepared to take into consideration any claim which may be made for financial compensation where an Order under the Local Government Act alters the boundaries of School Board districts, and to provide for such compensation where the claim is made out by a Supplementary Order. But each case must be judged on its own merits, and I cannot admit that an alteration of area is always a ground for payment to that diminished district.
