HENNIKER HEATON (Canterbury)I beg to ask the Under 1173 Secretary of State for the Colonies whether the Report of the Departmental Committee on the subject of the Military Contribution from Singapore, Mauritius and Hong Kong has been framed and brought up, and what is the date of such Report; and, whether the decision as to the respective amounts payable and the principle of assessment will shortly be made known?
§ MR. SYDNEY BUXTONThe Committee on the subject of the Military Contribution from Singapore, Mauritius and Hong Kong reported on the 1st inst. That Report is under the consideration of Her Majesty's Government. The Colonies concerned will be made acquainted with the views of Her Majesty's Government as soon as such views have been matured. I cannot say exactly when this will be.
