§ MR. WILLIAM JOHNSTONI beg to ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer 292 whether, in deference to temperance opinion, he will extend the Intoxicating Liquor Traffic (Local Control) Bill to Ireland?
§ THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUERI must give the hon. Member the same answer that I gave the other day to the hon. Member for South Tyrone. I said then that the Bill had been introduced in the same form as that of the Bill of 1893; but that, of course, it would be open to the House to consider whether or not Ireland should be included.
§ MR. W. JOHNSTONWould the right hon. Gentleman think it fair, if Ireland is not included, to force this Bill upon England by the votes of Members representing Irish priests and publicans?
§ MR. G. C. T. BARTLEY (Islington, N.)Will the Government support the Amendment for extending the Bill to Ireland?
§ THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUERI think it would be premature to state now what course the Government intend taking.
§ MR. C. J. DARLING (Deptford)Is it the intention of the Government that this Bill should have precedence over the "One Man One Vote" Bill?
§ THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUERI cannot now make any statement upon the point.
