WEIRI beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade whether he has received a petition from the inhabitants of Erbusaig, Lochalsh, Ross-shire, to the effect that, in the interests of the fishing and crofting population, there should be at least three openings in the embankment of the new railway in that district; and whether steps have been taken to prevent the construction of the embankment without the necessary openings to the seashore?
§ MR. BRYCEI have received from the Secretary for Scotland the petition referred to by the hon. Member, and will carefully consider the representations of the petitioners whenever the working drawings of the railway embankment are submitted to me by the Highland Railway Company, which has not yet been done.
