HC Deb 21 March 1895 vol 31 c1566
MR. A. C. MORTON (Peterborough)

I beg to ask the President of the Local Government Board whether his attention has been called to the want of a proper supply of water at a serious fire which occurred in Gauden Road, Clapham, at 2 A.M. yesterday (Wednesday); and will he order an inquiry into the matter for the purpose of protecting life and property?

MR. SHAW-LEFEVRE

The accounts I have read of this fire do not allege any failure of water. I have no authority to direct inquiry otherwise than on the application of twenty ratepayers.
