HC Deb 21 March 1895 vol 31 c1573
MR. E. T. GOURLKY (Sunderland)

I beg to ask the Civil Lord of the Admiralty, if it is true that the piston rods of H.M.S. Hornet have broken; and whether it is the fact that the maker's original design and arrangements of these pistons were refused by the Admiralty, and altered to suit their views, and, this being the cause, of the breaking, they are now being fitted according to the maker's original design; if so, do the Admiralty pay for the alterations?

MR. EDMUND ROBERTSON

The reply to both parts of the question is in the affirmative.
