HC Deb 12 March 1895 vol 31 cc883-4
MR. HENNIKER HEATON (Canterbury)

I beg to ask the Postmaster General whether he is aware that telegraphic money orders can be exchanged between Egypt and France; and whether a similar arrangement can be made between Egypt and the United Kingdom; and whether he will institute negotiations for an exchange of money orders by telegraph between the United Kingdom and France, Germany, Holland, Belgium, and the Continent generally?

MR. ARNOLD MORLEY

I have to inform the hon. Member that the question to which he alludes was considered by the Treasury on representations made by my predecessor in 1892; but that the Treasury was not then prepared to authorise the Department to proceed in the matter. The subject is, in my opinion, well deserving of attention, and I propose to communicate again with the Treasury.
