§ MR. PICKERSGILLI beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is the cause of the delay in the issue of the Judicial Statistics (Police, Criminal Proceedings, Prisons) for 1893; and when their publication may be expected?
§ MR. ASQUITHThese statistics have been revised, and to a great extent reconstructed in accordance with the recommendations of a Departmental Committee. One of the changes is that the Police Tables are now given for the year ending 31st December, instead of the year ending 29th September. This involves a delay of three months; and, in addition to this, there has been an enormous amount of additional labour in carrying out the revision. The Tables, however, are now in an advanced state of preparation, and will, I hope, be ready for publication along with the Committee's Report in about a month.
