HC Deb 11 March 1895 vol 31 c782
MR. R. W. HANBURY (Preston)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War whether he is now in a position to state the result of the inquiries he promised during the Debate on the Medical Vote last year to make into the distribution of the duties in the Medical Division of the War Office?

MR. W. WOODALL

The Secretary of State made full inquiry into the distribution of work in the Medical Division of the War Office, and satisfied himself that the professional officers and the civilians were appropriately employed on professional and clerical work respectively. Medical officers who are necessarily changed frequently could not properly discharge the duties which devolve upon the principal civilian clerk.
