HC Deb 04 March 1895 vol 31 cc280-1
SIR G. BADEN-POWELL (Liverpool, Kirkdale)

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury whether it is true that the Customs Authorities have in contemplation a material alteration in the hours of duty of Customs officers employed on landing and shipping duties in the port of Liverpool; whether this contemplated alteration involves any extension of hours of service; and, whether such alteration is an infringement of the terms under which the Officers entered the service?

THE SECRETARY TO THE TREASURY (Sir J. T. HIBBERT, Oldham)

A Departmental Inquiry is in progress upon some questions relating to the hours of duty in the Outdoor Department of the Customs Service generally, hut no alteration is contemplated which would involve any extension of hours of service.
