HC Deb 17 June 1895 vol 34 cc1263-4
MR. SWIFT MACNEILL (Donegal, S.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland when are the relief works on the new road between Ardara and Glenties, in County Donegal, to be commenced, in view of the fact that the people of these districts are without employment and in great distress?

MR. J. MORLEY

Since I replied to the hon. and learned Gentleman's previous question of the 30th ultimo in this matter, I have been informed by the Local Government Board Inspector that he has made further inquiries into the circumstances of the people of the district, and that he does not now consider it necessary to recommend the opening of the particular work referred to. Eight new works have been commenced in the County Donegal during the present month, and of these two are in the Glenties Union.
