Pinkerton), I beg to ask the Chief Sercetary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, will he explain on what grounds the Board of Control have rejected the consideration of other sites for the new Asylum in the county of Londonderry, and selected Gransha?
MR. GEORGE RUSSELLThe Board of Control carefully considered the relative advantages of the several sites which have been offered for the new Asylum for the Londonderry District, and are of opinion that the neighbourhood of the City of Londonderry, where the present Asylum is situated, is the most convenient and the proper position for the new Asylum. Gransha has, subject to certain conditions, been selected as the best site offered in that locality.
