I beg to ask the President of the Local Government Board if he will state how many Councils of Municipal Boroughs (including County Boroughs), Councils of Urban Districts, Boards of Guardians, and other Representative Bodies, have applied to the Local Government Board for an Order under Section 33, Sub-section 1, of the Local Government Act, 1894, to confer on them all or any of the powers therein named, and on what date such Orders will be issued?

Since the Local Authorites, elected under the Local Government Act, 1894, came into office the Local Government Board have received about 550 applications for Orders under Subsection (1) of Section 33 of the Act. So far as these applications relate to the power to appoint Overseers, the Board are now in communication with the Local Authorities concerned with a view to the issue of Orders on the subject before the 25th of March next. So far as they relate to other matters, they will be dealt with as early as practicable after that date.
