HC Deb 21 February 1895 vol 30 cc1238-9
MR. H. C. F. LUTTRELL (Devon,Tavistock)

I beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade whether the Board of Trade will allow the life-saving apparatus to be issued to those coastguard stations which are at present unprovided with this apparatus?

THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF TRADE (Mr. BRYCE,) Aberdeen, S.

Life-saving apparatus has been supplied to all coastguard stations where the Board of Trade are advised that it is likely to be required for the purpose of saving life. I cannot undertake to provide it at other places without previous consideration of the special circumstances; but if my hon. Friend is of opinion that any portion of the coast specially known to him is insufficiently provided, and will communicate with me, I will have the matter carefully looked into.

MR. LUTTRELL

I beg to ask the Civil Lord of the Admiralty whether the Admiralty would be willing to accept from the Board of Trade the life-saving apparatus at those coastguard stations which are at present unprovided with the apparatus?

THE CIVIL LORD OF THE ADMIRALTY (Mr. E. ROBERTSON,) Dundee

No objection would be raised by the Admiralty if the Board of Trade consider that life-saving apparatus should be placed at any coastguard station not already supplied with the apparatus.
