HC Deb 21 February 1895 vol 30 c1278
DR. TANNER (Mid Cork)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether his attention has been directed to the great distress and scarcity of fuel, now prevailing in Millstreet, County Cork; and whether that district will be generously considered when the sum recently voted is being distributed?

MR. J. MORLEY

The Local Government Board have received no reports as to the alleged existence of great distress and scarcity of fuel in Millstreet Union. The numbers on outdoor relief have not increased as compared with corresponding period of last year, and the Board state that the Guardians did not think it necessary to apply for a loan for seed potatoes this year. The Board will instruct their Inspectors to make further inquiries and report on the condition of the people in this district.
