HC Deb 18 February 1895 vol 30 cc943-4
Dr. R. FARQUHARSON (Aberdeenshire, W.)

I beg to ask the First Commissioner of Works, what has been the result of the examination and treatment of the Frescoes in the House of Lords by Professor Church.

THE FIRST COMMISSIONER OF WORKS (Mr. H. J. GLADSTONE,) Leeds, W.

I propose to lay Professor Church's Reports on these Frescoes before Parliament immediately.

MR. R. G. WEBSTER (St. Pancras, E.)

asked if the right hon. Gentleman's attention had been drawn to the fact that on the upper landing of the Committee Room stairs, eight of the nine Frescoes, which cost £1,000 each, were peeling and in a dilapidated condition?

MR. H. J. GLADSTONE

Yes, and I am afraid those Frescoes are past repair.
