HC Deb 15 February 1895 vol 30 cc830-1
SIR MARK STEWART (Kirkcudbright)

I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, if Her Majestys Government has applied to the Japanese Government for compensation for any British subject lost in the sinking of the British steamship Kowshing; and, if application has been made, will he state the answer?

*SIR E. GREY

I cannot say more at present than that the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs is in communication with the owners of the Kowshiny with regard to their claims.
