§ MR. W. REDMONDI beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, if his attention has been drawn to the resolution passed at the recent Presentment Sessions in Ennis calling on the Government to relieve the county Clare of the cost of extra police; and, whether, in view of the peaceable condition of Clare, he will take steps to carry out the desire of this resolution?
MR. J. MORLEYsaid, he had seen the resolution passed at the Presentment Sessions at Ennis. A reduction of the extra force of constabulary for Clare by 25 men had been decided upon, and this would be equivalent to a relief from taxation of about£800 per annum.
