HC Deb 12 February 1895 vol 30 c557
MR. G. C. T. BARTLEY (Islington, N.)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War whether any decision has yet been come to, to grant the long-service medal to Volunteers who, though they may have broken their service for more than a year have yet served for over 20 years as Volunteers?

*MR. CAMPBELL-BANNERMAN

By an Army Order issued last month it is provided that a break in service occurring before May 25th, 1894, shall not necessarily prevent the grant of the medal. If the break did not amount to a year, the general officer commanding the district will decide on the validity of the claim. In case of a longer break he will submit the application to head quarters for decision.
