HC Deb 07 February 1895 vol 30 c193
MR. KENYON (Denbigh, &c.)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he could state when the evidence on the Welsh Land Commission is likely to be concluded? And, whether the Commission will report on an early day?

THE UNDER SECRETARY FOR THE HOME DEPARTMENT (Mr. G. W. E. RUSSELL, N. Beds.)

I am informed that, the Royal Commission on Land in Wales and Monmouthshire do not propose to hold any further sittings for the purpose of taking evidence in the country, and that they anticipate that all evidence-taking will be concluded in the course of the next few weeks. With regard to the Report, the Commission trust that it will be possible for it to be issued by the month of June of July next at the latest.

MR. KENYON

Will the Home Office limit the further evidence to matters relevant to the Commission?

MR. G. W. E. RUSSELL

It is not for the Home Office to dictate to the Commission what evidence they will receive. I can only answer that they hope to bring the taking of evidence to a conclusion.
