HC Deb 07 February 1895 vol 30 cc205-6
SIR T. G. ESMONDE

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, whether the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland has received any Memorials relative to the case of the condemned man Twiss, and if he can state what decision has been arrived at upon the subject?

MR. J. MORLEY

said that a very large number of enormously signed Memorials had been received by the Lord Lieutenant on the subject of this condemned man. He could assure the hon. Gentleman that all these Memorials, and all the mitigating circumstances of the case, had been the subject of the most careful and earnest consideration, but he regretted to say that no grounds had been discovered for interfering with the case, and that it had been decided that the law must take its course.
