HC Deb 07 February 1895 vol 30 cc215-6
COLONEL NOLAN (Galway, N.)

I beg to ask Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer if the Government intend to give effect early this Session to the Resolution adopted by the House of Commons last year, to the effect that the advantages of the Allotment system should be extended to Ireland?

MR. J. MORLEY

I am not able to frame any scheme which will carry out all that was embodied in the Resolution referred to, with reference to allotments in Ireland. At the same time I may state that I shall on a later day ask leave to introduce a Bill to amend the Labourers' Acts, and this will, I hope, carry out the object of my hon. and gallant Friend.

COLONEL NOLAN

Will that give the option of granting land without insisting on the building of a cottage on the land so granted?

MR. J. MORLEY

I do not think it will, but I would ask my hon. and gallant Friend to be good enough to wait till he sees the Bill.
